Save The Animals Today: Adopt & Foster Dogs and Cats - Friday (11am - 7pm, arrive by 6pm)

🚨 Please help save dogs and cats today by applying to adopt or foster! An ongoing overcrowding crisis at PG County Animal Shelter resulted in a devastating loss of 16 dogs euthanized for space one day in mid-October! More adoptable dogs were euthanized since then! There was no urgent list notice for transparency to rescue partners and community members! There is no list this week either.

📢  Community members - Adopters and fosters are needed today for dogs and cats! Please go meet and adopt them or apply to foster them. Dogs are at risk of being euthanized a any time only due to space. They are over capacity with dogs and need space for more dogs coming in. There is a no urgent list this week to provide a chance and have time to help save them.

🐶 Adopters: Please go to the shelter Friday (11am to 7pm, arrive by 6pm) and Saturday (10am to 4pm, arrive by 3pm). Adopters are able to meet 2 dogs and bring dogs for meet and greets.

Note: Adopters of pit bulls: Review the requirements and complete the Pet Parenting Certification (that takes about an hour) before going to adopt Pit Bull Terriers and specific bully-type breeds.

🐶 Prospective fosters: Fosters through the shelter and rescues are needed for dogs and cats. Please apply with rescue partners, or contact the shelter to be a foster and save a life. The Friends of PG County Animal Shelter posts about dogs which need fosters through the shelter or otherwise through rescues. Fostering is usually free with a rescue.

Please review the shelter foster information, apply online and complete Pet Parenting Certification. Contact the shelter with the dog's name and ID. "Interested in Fostering: Email fosterpgcpets@co.pg.md.us " They allow pit bull-type dogs to be fostered in Maryland. Foster Information | Prince George's County
