• National Guard crime task force member arrested in DC, accused of drawing gun on fellow Guard member (wtop.com) — A Georgia National Guard member deployed in Washington as part of President Trump's crime task force was arrested after allegedly pointing a loaded gun at a fellow Guard member during an argument over haircut rules. The case highlights ongoing tensions over thousands of out-of-state Guard troops still patrolling DC streets under an emergency order that's been extended through January 2029.
   

• DC police officer fatally shoots dog while arresting man wanted in deadly stabbing (dcnewsnow.com) — DC police arrested 25-year-old Andrew Tyree Richardson on Sunday in connection with a July stabbing that killed 56-year-old Charles Sharp on the 2900 block of 14th Street NW. During the arrest, a dog allegedly charged officers and was fatally shot after a taser failed, prompting an Internal Affairs investigation while Richardson faces murder, burglary, and weapons-related charges.
   

• Pope Leo XIV's Representative Nuncio Caccia Celebrates Opening Mass at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC (catholicnewsworld.com) — Students, faculty, and staff in Washington gathered at the Basilica of the National Shrine for Catholic University's annual Mass of the Holy Spirit, led this year by Papal Nuncio Archbishop Gabriele Caccia. The liturgy paused classes, brought greetings from Pope Leo XIV, granted canonical missions to four professors, and encouraged the campus to deepen prayer and Scripture study.
