1. ‘Storm ready story time' events around Alachua County make sure kids are ready for hurricane season (wcjb.com) — Families across Alachua County can bring kids to “Storm Ready Storytime” sessions at local library branches now through June 26 to build personalized hurricane-preparedness kits. Children hear a storm-readiness story, decorate tote bags, and receive flashlights, long-life water jugs, first aid kits, glow sticks, whistles, and safety books from emergency management staff.
   

2. ACPS rezoning changes to impact thousands of students - The Independent Florida Alligator (alligator.org) — Thousands of students in Alachua County Public Schools are being reassigned to new campuses for the 2026–27 year as part of a districtwide rezoning and consolidation plan that closes three elementary schools. Families near Buchholz and Gainesville High are already grappling with longer commutes, program changes, and whether zoning exemptions can keep students at their current schools.
   

3. FHP motorist advisory: Fire near CR 234 and I-75 (alachuachronicle.com) — Drivers in Alachua County should be prepared for reduced visibility tonight from a 2-acre wildfire burning along County Road 234 near I-75.
