FDOT unveils preferred plan for DeSoto Bridge project (mysuncoast.com) — A massive overhaul of the DeSoto Bridge connecting Bradenton and Palmetto is FDOT's preferred plan, adding lanes plus elevated express lanes that would route through-traffic over downtown Bradenton. Local leaders say the project could ease congestion, improve pedestrian safety, and help businesses, though funding and a possible "no build" option mean nothing is final yet.
   

2. Police identify suspect in Bradenton double homicide; charges pending: BPD (tampabay28.com) — Bradenton police say they've identified a suspect in the Sept. 22 double homicide on 12th Avenue East, though charges in the case are still pending. The suspect is already jailed on unrelated charges as detectives from Bradenton Police and the Manatee Homicide Investigation Unit continue gathering evidence and ask residents to share any tips that might help.
   

3. New Manatee County EMS paramedics recognized with badging ceremony (mysuncoast.com) — In Bradenton, Manatee County EMS has officially welcomed and promoted paramedics and EMTs in a recent badging ceremony, highlighting the newest responders serving local residents. County leaders praised the long training hours, sacrifices, and new responsibilities these team members have taken on, underscoring their commitment to the community's emergency medical care.
   

4. 'Stop the Bleed' lesson shared (yoursun.com) — Bradenton residents recently had the chance to learn Stop the Bleed skills and hands-only CPR during free August trainings at HCA Florida Blake Hospital and other regional sites. More than 100 people across Venice, Wellen Park, Bradenton, and Fort Myers practiced controlling severe bleeding and performing CPR, with HCA Florida Healthcare aiming to boost bystander confidence in real emergencies.
