Two Men Killed in Bradenton Shooting, Police Say (patch.com) — Bradenton residents are being urged to share any information they have after two men were fatally shot Tuesday evening on the 400 block of 12th Avenue E. Police say officers arrived within minutes but one victim died at the scene and the other en route to the hospital, and detectives are now working with the Manatee County Sheriff's Office to find whoever is responsible.
   

2. RoadWatch – 09-23-26 (islander.org) — If you're driving between Bradenton and the Island, expect lane closures and detours around 75th Street West at Manatee Avenue and along Cortez Road as Manatee County continues major roadway work. Island residents and visitors can still rely on the free MCAT trolley between Coquina Beach in Bradenton Beach and the Anna Maria City Pier, with connections to mainland buses at key beach hubs.
   

3. Sarasota Memorial Hospital plans Manatee County expansion along Interstate 75 (bradenton.com) — Manatee County residents near Bradenton could see a major new Sarasota Memorial medical campus rise at Interstate 75 and State Road 64, replacing previously planned housing on the site. The project, along with new BayCare and HCA hospitals, aims to handle rapid population growth, expand emergency and specialty care, and ease pressure on existing facilities serving Bradenton‑area patients.
   

4. Bradenton community responds after 20-year-old volleyball star dies from disease that affects 2 in a million (tampabay28.com) — Bradenton's volleyball community is mourning 20‑year‑old IMG Academy standout Amanda Mack, who died last week from extremely rare severe aplastic anemia despite having a perfect bone marrow match. Her family, coaches, and teammates are honoring her legacy by retiring her jersey, sharing her story to raise awareness of the disease, and seeking help with mounting medical bills through a fundraising campaign.
   

5. Bradenton Beach police officer back on duty after suspected DUI driver totals patrol car (fox13news.com) — A longtime Bradenton Beach police officer is back on patrol after a suspected drunk driver totaled his cruiser at Cortez Road and 75th Street West, sending him to Blake Hospital in Bradenton with cuts and bruises. The 31-year department veteran says the close call underscores the ongoing danger of drunk driving on local roads and is still weighing retirement in 2027.
