RoadWatch – 09-30-26 (islander.org) — Drivers in and around Bradenton should watch for weekday construction along 75th Street West at Manatee Avenue and lane closures on Cortez Road as crews add turn lanes, drainage and other upgrades. Bridge work from Cortez to Longboat Pass and free MCAT trolley service around Anna Maria Island could also affect how you get to beaches, errands and work this fall.
   

2. Point Park University, City of Bradenton Explore Potential Partnership (thebradentontimes.com) — Bradenton officials are in early talks with Point Park University about opening a downtown campus, likely focused first on performing arts and using the long-vacant former GTE building. The project could revive a key property, expand local higher-education options, and bring more daily activity and business to the city center, though no programs, funding, or timeline are set yet.
   

3. Bradenton non-profit seeks bicycle donations to prevent homelessness (fox13news.com) — Bradenton's Turning Points urgently needs donated bicycles to help local residents reach jobs, medical appointments, and essential services, a key tool in preventing homelessness. Volunteers refurbish about 800 bikes a year at their 17th Avenue West shop, but donations have recently dropped even as transportation costs rise, and the nonprofit is asking neighbors to bring in bikes of any condition for repair and reuse.
   

4. First look inside new Athletic and Aquatic center at Premier Sports Campus North (wfla.com) — A major new athletic and aquatic center at Premier Sports Campus North off Rangeland Parkway in Bradenton is nearly finished, promising a 52-meter competition pool and 24 pickleball courts. County leaders expect it to serve local families and athletes while boosting sports tourism, with memberships and daily passes planned and a hoped-for public opening by year's end.
   

5. Manatee County approves $3.7 billion for next fiscal year (thebradentontimes.com) — Manatee County commissioners meeting in Bradenton have approved a $3.7 billion budget for fiscal year 2027, including a slight reduction in the aggregate property tax millage rate. The plan boosts funding for public safety, transportation and utilities, and outlines a $4.83 billion five-year capital program that will shape local infrastructure and services starting October 1, 2026.
