• Bay Area dengue cases rise to 33 as mosquito spraying ramps up (fox13news.com) — Dengue cases have risen sharply in Hillsborough County, prompting mosquito control crews to ramp up spraying, including previously scheduled aerial treatments in the Brandon area. Residents are urged to dump standing water, use mosquito repellent and wear protective clothing to reduce bites. Officials stress that local cooperation is key to slowing further spread of the virus. 
• Frenchies Die of Heatstroke: Pet owner wants oversight and regulations of dog daycare centers (wgcu.org) — Two French bulldogs died of suspected heatstroke after attending a Hillsborough County dog daycare, and their owner rushed them to an emergency veterinary center in Brandon, where one died en route and the other was euthanized. The case highlights that Florida leaves dog daycare oversight to local governments, and Hillsborough County currently has no specific licensing or inspection rules for these businesses.
• South Hillsborough Pipeline Makes Significant Progress (ospreyobserver.com) — A major new water pipeline is under construction to boost Hillsborough County's drinking water supply for communities from Brandon down to Balm by late 2028. Expect ongoing tunneling, open-cut pipe work, detours and traffic changes along key corridors, while officials urge residents to use navigation apps and keep supporting businesses along the construction route.
