• Meet Mr. Trash Wheel and His Trash-Catching Friends (reasonstobecheerful.world) — Cedar Key’s storm drains now host ten mesh “trash traps” that University of Florida researchers and local volunteers clean and catalog monthly, revealing huge amounts of plastic and cigarette butts washing toward local waters. Their work feeds a global trash-trap network that uses this data to push for plastic-reduction policies, even as Florida law limits local regulation of single-use plastics.
