• Master Gardener volunteer training applications now open (niceville.com) — Applications are now open for the 2026 Master Gardener Volunteer training held at the UF/IFAS Extension Office on Airport Road in Crestview, with classes running Thursdays starting August 6. Local residents who love gardening can learn from UF specialists, then volunteer answering questions, supporting school gardens, and helping at clinics across Crestview and Fort Walton Beach; applications are due June 22. 
• Shalimar man sentenced back to prison for drug trafficking 3 months after release (wkrg.com) — A Shalimar man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison after deputies found large quantities of cocaine and heroin, firearms, and cash during a 2020 search. The investigation was handled by Okaloosa County’s multi-agency drug task force, which includes the Crestview Police Department, highlighting ongoing regional efforts against major trafficking operations.
