Now a Palantir billionaire wants to breed 30,000 of them in the US (moneywise.com) — A biotech startup backed by Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale still hopes to build a massive monkey-breeding facility in Bainbridge, but the project is stalled after local officials withdrew support amid strong community opposition. The company has sued over the reversal, while residents worry about home values, environmental risks, and living near up to 30,000 macaques, leaving Bainbridge’s potential $396 million complex in legal limbo.
   

2. BHS Drama secures awards at One Act Competition (thepostsearchlight.com) — Bainbridge High School’s One-Act drama team just earned second place at the GHSA Region 1-AAAA competition, marking their second straight year of placing. Performing The Addams Family, students brought home multiple acting and technical awards, while their director praised the group’s hard work, growth, and tight-knit sense of family, especially for seniors in their final One Act season.
   

3. Cairo cooks Columbus (timesenterprise.com) — Bainbridge fans will see their Bearcats visit Cairo this Friday for the Syrupmakers’ regular-season finale, following Cairo’s 75-0 rout of Columbus. Cairo, now 8-1 and highly ranked in Class 4A, has been piling up points and shutouts, setting up a high-stakes regional matchup with Bainbridge that could shape postseason momentum.
   

4. George Watson Sasser - The Post-Searchlight (thepostsearchlight.com) — Longtime Bainbridge resident George Watson Sasser, 96, has passed away, leaving a legacy of faith, hard work, and service to Black Jack Baptist Church and the local community. A Bainbridge High School graduate and former Housing Authority maintenance supervisor, he also ran several local businesses and remained active in church leadership for decades, deeply impacting family, friends, and fellow congregants.
