• Walton County groundwater contamination concern prompts new testing (mypanhandle.com) — County leaders are reexamining possible groundwater contamination from the now-closed Coyote Landfill in Freeport, asking state environmental officials to retest monitoring wells and assess whether cleanup is needed. Earlier tests near Alaqua Creek showed elevated metals, and Commissioner Dan Curry says it’s irresponsible not to revisit those results before any future use of the area.
