• Meet The 2026 UCF Knights: Countdown To Kickoff - No. 85 Carson Hinshaw (yardbarker.com) — A Lake Mary native and Lake Mary High School graduate, wide receiver Carson Hinshaw is working to earn more snaps for UCF in the 2026 season. The redshirt sophomore, part of a multi-generation UCF family, currently faces stiff competition in a deep receiver room and is likely to spend much of the year on the scout team unless injuries open opportunities.
   

• Mims man killed in crash was driving daughter to camp, co-worker says (news-journalonline.com) — A 36-year-old Lake Mary man suffered minor injuries in a State Road 46 crash that killed 41-year-old Brien Moody of Mims as he drove his daughter to summer camp. Florida Highway Patrol says the Lake Mary driver’s SUV lost control on a curve, hit a guardrail, then collided head-on with Moody’s vehicle; the teen passenger was hospitalized and the investigation continues.
   

• FEMA approves over $90 million in disaster relief for impacted Florida communities (flvoicenews.com) — From its Lake Mary office, FEMA announced more than $90 million for disaster recovery and mitigation projects across Florida, including major funding for utilities, beaches, and traffic-signal upgrades. While none of the awards are specifically earmarked for Lake Mary, the decision underscores the city’s role as a hub for statewide emergency management as hurricane season ramps up again.
