• As drought persists, water district extends restrictions through March (bradenton.com) — If you live in Lakeland or anywhere in Polk County, you'll be under one-day-a-week lawn watering rules with strict hours through at least March 31 due to ongoing drought. The Southwest Florida Water Management District says low rainfall has left rivers and supplies depleted, and it's tightening outdoor water use, car washing, and even restaurant water service to conserve every drop.
   

• Polk Tax Collector Joe Tedder Speaks Out After Employee Accused of Secretly Recording Women — Polk County Sheriff's Office (dailyridge.com) — A Polk County Tax Collector's Office IT manager from Lakeland was fired after being identified as the suspect in a hidden-camera video voyeurism case at an employee restroom in Bartow. He was later found dead in Colt Creek State Park, with investigators believing he took his own life. Officials emphasize support for affected staff and note that felony charges were planned had he survived.
