While the dollar amounts are still small, the surge far outpaced overall Medicaid growth in the city and comes amid broader federal moves to tighten Medicaid funding nationwide. 
• 2 weeks before trial, Pinellas doctor accused of murdering lawyer waives jury (tampabay.com) — A plastic surgeon charged in the killing of a Largo lawyer will represent himself at his September trial and has waived his right to a jury, leaving the verdict and any death-penalty decision to a judge. Investigators previously reported finding blood in the victim's Largo office and other evidence linking the suspect to the disappearance, and a standby attorney remains available if he changes course.
