LakeXpress offering shuttle service for Leesburg Bikefest (wftv.com) — If you’re heading to Leesburg Bikefest next weekend, LakeXpress will run a low-cost shuttle straight to downtown events from April 24–26, helping you skip traffic and parking hassles. Riders can board at the Main and Kaolin streets hub, with $1 one-way fares, $3 day passes, and free rides for students plus discounts for seniors and people with disabilities.
   

2. Silver Springs monkeys ... in Leesburg? (dailycommercial.com) — If you live near Lake Harris or the Leesburg-Tavares line, you may have a new neighbor: a rhesus macaque monkey that wildlife officials say likely wandered down from the Silver Springs colony. Locals spotted the primate near the Dead River, and experts are urging residents to keep their distance, avoid feeding it, and report any sightings to FWC.
   

3. Leesburg man arrested at Circle K with meth and pipes concealed in buttocks (leesburg-news.com) — Leesburg residents may want to know that a local man was recently arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop at a Circle K in nearby Bushnell. Deputies reported finding methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia during a K-9-assisted search, leading to his booking and later release on bond from the Sumter County Detention Center.

Lee commissioners back ‘rainbow bridge' pet memorial at Pirates Cove (albanyherald.com) — Leesburg residents may soon have a dedicated “rainbow bridge” memorial for departed pets at Pirates Cove Nature Park, thanks to a proposal backed by Lee County commissioners and led by local pet-sitter Sarah Hunter. The plan would color the footbridge in rainbow hues and invite owners to attach collars or engraved tags, creating a quiet space for remembrance while drawing visitors and volunteers from across the community.
   

5. Stalker allegedly threatens to stab employee he met at T-Mobile store (leesburg-news.com) — Leesburg residents should know a local man was recently arrested on serious stalking and threat charges after repeated, frightening messages to a woman he met at a T-Mobile store. Deputies say the harassment escalated despite a requested injunction, prompting his arrest at a Leesburg home and booking into the Lake County Jail on felony counts.
