• The Giving Shelf is set to fund another book fair for Pine Hills Elementary (wftv.com) — Pine Hills Elementary students in Orlando will each get a free book when The Giving Shelf fully funds the school's Scholastic Book Fair from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2. Local teen founder Helena Madsen is again covering costs so all 650 students at the Title I school can choose and keep a book, building on earlier literacy and science giveaways.
   

• Over 2,000 people honor fallen first responders at Tunnel to Towers Orlando 5K (mynews13.com) — More than 2,000 people turned out at Cranes Roost Park for the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk Orlando, honoring first responders who died on 9/11. With over 400 first responders participating and funds supporting Tunnel to Towers' programs, Orlando-area firefighters and families used the event to remember fallen colleagues and inspire younger generations to continue the tradition.
