We’re bringing back the magic of our childhood Scholastic Book Fairs, but making it queer! Now, we’re bringing it to Sarasota.
The <a href="https://www.facebook.com/share/18nh9ZsCXD/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Queerlastic Book Fair</a>, at the Fabulous Arts Foundation's 925 Maddox Gallery, takes place Saturday, Sept. 19, noon to 4 p.m.
Who didn’t love perusing the stacks of books — while also getting out of class — those colorful newsletters they sent home the week beforehand, and, most importantly, discovering your next favorite read?
Our Queerlastic Book Fair series revives that ‘80s and ‘90s book fair energy as a celebration of LGBTQ+ literature, creativity, and community.
Browse tables filled with books from local independent booksellers, meet LGBTQ+ authors from across the region, and discover artwork, zines, prints, stickers, and other creations from talented local artists and makers.

Eddie has been singing and playing piano since he was eight years old. Attending the University of Miami, Eddie was in the Studio Music and Jazz Piano program. He entertained around the country and on cruise ships. Spending 15 great years in Nashville accompanying the Forester Sisters, who opened for Kenny Rogers, and traveling with Brenda Lee. For seven and a half years, Eddie was music director, pianist, conductor, and arranger for Engelbert Humperdinck. You’ll hear some jazz, blues, standards, ragtime, classical, pop, calypso, and country music. People will enjoy his renditions of songs by Jimmy Buffett, Leon Russell, Ray Charles, and Johnny Cash.

Town Square University Parkway is a unique senior center, adult day center, and community resource center located in Sarasota, Florida. Designed as an immersive 1950s-themed town, our 15,000-square-foot center provides a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for older adults while offering education, resources, and respite for caregivers. Our mission is to help older adults thrive through meaningful engagement, social connection, health support, and purposeful programming. We serve individuals living with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke recovery, mild cognitive impairment, and other age-related conditions, while also welcoming seniors seeking socialization and community involvement.
