Sarasota's only Michelin Bib Gourmand chef shares his story (miamiherald.com) — Sarasota diners now have a Michelin-recognized neighborhood spot in Lucky 8, the Southside Village restaurant that earned the city's only Bib Gourmand award. Chef Mark Majorie shares how his New Orleans roots, accessible pricing, and from-scratch comfort food have packed the small space, drawing crowds even through Sarasota's typically slow summer season.
   

2. Police ask for public's help to find missing man (mysuncoast.com) — Sarasota Police are asking residents to help find 74-year-old Robert Vass, last seen Sept. 17 on the 2000 block of Main Street after saying he would walk home to Venice. A later phone ping suggested he might be near The Meadows or Nathan Benderson Park. Anyone who has seen him or knows his whereabouts is urged to call 911 or Sarasota Police.
   

3. Motorcyclist dead after Sarasota crash; police investigating (wfla.com) — A motorcyclist died Sunday afternoon after a serious crash at Gulfstream Avenue and Bayfront Drive in Sarasota, briefly shutting down traffic while police investigated. Officers say a passing maneuver in the traffic circle led to a collision and pole impact, also causing a second rider to crash. Investigators are asking anyone who saw the incident to contact Sarasota Police.
   

4. Theater becomes an event for all at Family Fest (yourobserver.com) — Families in Sarasota just got a free, hands-on day of theater, improv, and kid-run businesses at Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall's second annual Family Fest. Local groups like Asolo Rep on Tour and Florida Studio Theatre offered sensory-friendly performances and activities, while young entrepreneurs sold their creations at a Kids Markets fair on the grounds.
   

5. Sarasota Memorial Moving Forward with New Outpatient Cancer Center in Venice (srqmagazine.com) — Sarasota-area cancer patients will soon have another treatment option as Sarasota Memorial moves ahead with a new outpatient cancer center in Venice, building on its flagship Sarasota campus and Jellison Cancer Institute. The facility, on Curry Lane by SMH-Venice, will expand advanced cancer and endoscopy services for south Sarasota County residents. Construction follows the recent opening of the Milman-Kover Cancer Pavilion in Sarasota.
