• Two years after devastating floods, Sarasota County approves $32 million in fixes (yoursun.com) — Sarasota County has approved $32 million in stormwater projects to reduce flooding in hard-hit areas like Bahia Vista, St. Armands, Celery Fields, and nearby neighborhoods. Funded largely by federal recovery dollars, the work includes new wetlands, drainage upgrades, and potential smart gates, aiming to protect homes, businesses, and wildlife while addressing failures exposed by the 2024 hurricane season.
   

• Sarasota Opera Receives Major Grant from Gulf Coast Community Foundation (operawire.com) — Sarasota Opera just secured a $60,000 Empowering Arts Grant from Gulf Coast Community Foundation to bolster its 2026-27 season and community programs. Half the funding will underwrite productions, including the 2027 Winter Opera Festival, helping keep world-class performances and outreach a vibrant part of Sarasota's cultural life for local audiences and visiting opera fans alike.
