Pedestrian Killed, Another Injured Crossing Highway In Hillsborough County
A Leesburg man was killed and a Miami man seriously injured while crossing State Road 574, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — One pedestrian was killed and another was seriously injured after both were struck while attempting to cross State Road 574 on Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred west of North 68th Street around 10:50 p.m., the agency said in a release.
According to authorities, a 72-year-old Largo man was driving a Chevy Equinox westbound on State Road 574 when two pedestrians attempted to cross the highway.

Both men entered the vehicle's path and were struck, investigators said.
A 42-year-old Leesburg man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other pedestrian, a 54-year-old Miami man, suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

The driver of the Equinox was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
