• CSX train collides with vehicle in Starke, driver airlifted to trauma center (actionnewsjax.com) — A driver was seriously injured Thursday afternoon when a CSX train hit an occupied vehicle at the NE 179th Street crossing in Starke, shutting down the road and rail traffic near the Fairgrounds. Bradford County Fire Rescue airlifted the driver to a trauma center, and CSX says the crash, which did not injure train crew members, remains under investigation.
   

• Bradford County commissioners reject sheriff's immigration detention center proposal (wcjb.com) — Bradford County commissioners meeting in Starke have rejected Sheriff Gordon Smith’s proposal to turn the county-owned Douglas Building into an ICE detention center for up to 3,000 people, after strong local and regional opposition. Residents in and around Starke raised environmental, legal, and community-values concerns, and officials will now seek new bids and alternative uses for the property.
