• St. Pete Police Search For 18-Year-Old Accused of Shooting Stepfather (patch.com) — Residents in St. Petersburg's Cherry Street Northeast area are being urged to stay alert as police search for an 18-year-old accused of shooting his stepfather during an early-morning argument. Officers found the 34-year-old victim seriously wounded and rushed him to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, while the suspect fled and remains at large as the investigation continues.
   

• Woman seriously injured after stranger allegedly ignites gasoline at Florida gas station (weartv.com) — A woman suffered serious burns when another woman allegedly ignited gasoline as she fueled her SUV at a Mobil station on 40th Avenue North in St. Petersburg. Police say the victim was hospitalized at Tampa General and the suspect, who reportedly didn't know her, was arrested nearby on two arson counts while investigators continue searching for a motive.
   

• Freddy Peralta, Jonathan Aranda help Rays beat Astros 14-4 to sweep series (wtop.com) — Baseball fans in St. Petersburg saw a dominant Rays performance as Freddy Peralta threw five hitless innings and Jonathan Aranda belted two homers in a 14–4 rout of the Astros at Tropicana Field. Every Rays starter had a hit and run, and the team became the first in the American League to reach 90 wins heading into a home series against the Athletics.
