Locals can look forward to the first Taste of West Palm Beach food festival on Oct. 16, plus a wave of new eateries that aim to serve both residents and the growing finance and tech crowd.
   

2. 'It's nerve-wracking': Grandview Heights residents voice concerns over planned hotel (wpbf.com) — Residents of West Palm Beach's historic Grandview Heights neighborhood are suing the city and developer Related Ross to halt approvals for an 18‑story, 400‑room hotel by the Palm Beach County Convention Center, citing traffic, noise, and infrastructure concerns. Neighbors say they support growth in downtown West Palm Beach but want better studies, transparency, and compatibility protections before construction moves forward.
   

3. Florida Minister shot and killed in mistaken identity case: Police (abcnews.com) — A local minister from Mount Calvary Baptist Church in West Palm Beach died after being shot in what police describe as a tragic case of mistaken identity outside his girlfriend's home. West Palm Beach police say the suspect, an ex-boyfriend of a relative, allegedly opened fire on the car, and he's now charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder as the community mourns the victim's legacy of service.
   

4. Community Champion: Fisherman creates nonprofit after teammate's near-death accident (wpbf.com) — A West Palm Beach fisherman, Jim Lucas, turned a horrific 2025 offshore accident involving a teammate into the inspiration for his nonprofit, Casting 4 Care. Based locally but helping fishermen worldwide, the group raises money for medical needs, adaptive equipment, and housing upgrades so injured captains and crew can recover and support their families after life-changing injuries.
