• What the homestead exemption could mean for Winter Springs (baynews9.com) — Winter Springs officials are warning that a proposed statewide homestead exemption expansion could strip about $4 million a year from the city’s roughly $10 million property tax revenue, forcing cuts to general-fund services. While police would be protected, Mayor Kevin McCann says parks and recreation and other quality-of-life programs could be reduced, leaving residents like longtime homeowner Art Gallo weighing lower taxes against possible service cuts.
