• Bulldogs cruise past Razorbacks in SEC season opener (fox5atlanta.com) — Georgia fans in Athens can look ahead to a big home matchup next Saturday, as the Bulldogs return to Sanford Stadium to host Oklahoma after routing Arkansas 45-10 in their SEC opener. Quarterback Gunner Stockton led Georgia in both passing and rushing during the dominant road win, while the defense stifled Arkansas' ground game.
   

• UGA researchers discover 7 new viruses in vulnerable sea turtles (fox5atlanta.com) — Researchers based in Athens at UGA's College of Veterinary Medicine have identified 19 viruses in threatened sea turtles, including seven never seen before in any species. By cataloging these viruses using advanced genetic sequencing, the Athens team hopes to better prepare conservationists and veterinarians for future disease outbreaks that could further endanger vulnerable turtle populations along U.S. coasts.
