In the days following the announcement that the Buford Trail of Terror had found a devilish detour along Lake Lanier&rsquo;s spooky shoreline, Southern horror fans made clear they wanted the hauntings to begin as soon as possible. What was originally planned as a soft launch will now serve as opening day for the haunted house SLASH open-air experience on Friday, September 25. In addition to moving its Grand Opening up in answer to demand, the Buford Trail of Terror has extended its hours on several nights. To ramp up the fear factor, it has also added several skeletons from its own closet, along with familiar faces from classic horror films and entirely original creatures based on lake lore. Fun and fear seekers will be scared stiff by the creepy cast of characters they meet as they brave the Trail&rsquo;s 13 spine-tingling scenes. Hosted at Margaritaville at Lanier Islands, the Buford Trail of Terror will run rampant on select nights through November 7.
The winner of several Haunt Junkies&rsquo; Golden Ghost Awards, visitors to the <a href="http://www.bufordtrailofterror.com/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Buford Trail of Terror</a>
should be 16 or older, unless accompanied by an adult. As they brave Margaritaville at Lanier Islands&rsquo; moonlit landscape, guests should expect to traverse a variety of surfaces, including walking on sand. Buford Trail of Terror Scares Up a New Opening Date and Extended Hours for Spooky Season 2026 

For a tantalizing twist on &ldquo;trick-or-treating,&rdquo; Georgia&rsquo;s Lanier Islands Resort takes advantage of spooky season to play host to a Murder Mystery Weekend&trade; Friday, October 30 through Sunday, November 1. The three-day interactive experience &ndash; produced by Keith &amp; Margo's Murder Mystery Nationwide &ndash; will feature suspicious characters, unexpected twists, and hidden clues. It will also include plenty of reasons for would-be sleuths to question everyone around them while indulging in delicious cocktails, expertly prepared meals, and deluxe accommodations as the mystery unfolds nightly.
&ldquo;We love that our Murder Mystery Weekend aligns with Halloween, adding an undeniable air of whimsy to our who-dun-it,&rdquo; said Lanier Islands Resort President Matthew Bowling. &ldquo;In addition to enhancing our Fall event calendar in a frightfully fun way, this event provides a cool twist on your typical date weekend. While the proverbial curtain has closed on the 2026 Concerts for a Cause series at Lanier Islands Resort, the good vibes are still reverberating throughout North Georgia. Proceeds from ticket sales for the three-concert series totaled $28,000, of which half benefited Georgia Mountain Food Bank and the other half benefited the Lake Lanier Association. Those funds will further the missions of both nonprofits, which hold great meaning for the lakeside destination.&ldquo;We&rsquo;d like to thank everyone who attended our Concerts for a Cause, which were not only a lot of fun, but were also really impactful,&rdquo; said Matthew Bowling, President of Lanier Islands Resort. &ldquo;For 60 years, the Lake Lanier Association has proven critical to the future of the Northeast Georgia region, working diligently to keep Lake Lanier clean, full, and safe. The funds we raised will support cleanup events like the LLA&rsquo;s annual Shore Sweep, as well as monthly water quality testing, and ongoing safety efforts. For Georgia Mountain Food Bank, the funds raised will provide an estimated 70,000 meals for our neighbors in need. Both organizations are essential to the future of our region, and we are proud to support them.&rdquo;Based in Gainesville, the Georgia Mountain Food Bank serves five counties throughout North Georgia and, in 2025 alone, provided 8.8 million meals to 88,000 people suffering from food insecurity. Liberty Mutual Insurance has awarded A&amp;A Insurance Agency, Inc. a 2026 Make More Happen&trade; Award for its dedication to helping young athletes participate and thrive through its partnership with The Uniform Funding Foundation (TUFF). The award includes a $5,000 donation, which can be doubled to $10,000 through online community support. 
The A&amp;A Insurance Agency&rsquo;s story is featured on the official Make More Happen microsite, <a href="https://www.agentgiving.com/aa-insurance-agency" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">https://www.agentgiving.com/aa-insurance-agency</a>, where supporters can vote to help unlock the full $10,000 donation. If the story receives at least 750 combined votes and comments, the $5,000 award will be doubled. The additional funding would help provide complete uniform packages for youth football and cheer programs and expand TUFF&rsquo;s reach to additional underserved communities. 
The Uniform Funding Foundation provides uniforms and equipment to underfunded youth athletic programs, helping boys and girls in soccer, basketball, football, track, and cheerleading participate and thrive regardless of their family&rsquo;s financial situation. TUFF&rsquo;s work helps make sports more inclusive, equitable, and meaningful for kids across the country.
