1. Atlanta City Council backs light rail along full 22-mile Beltline loop (atlantanewsfirst.com) — Atlanta residents could eventually see light rail along the entire 22-mile Beltline, after City Council passed a resolution backing the full corridor and demanding a funding and implementation report by January 2027. The measure doesn't commit money yet, but it pushes city agencies, MARTA, and Atlanta Beltline, Inc. to coordinate on routes, design, and realistic funding for a complete system.
   

2. Atlanta 911 down: Emergency call system suffers technical failure (fox5atlanta.com) — Atlanta's 911 system is experiencing a major technical failure, limiting dispatchers' ability to receive emergency calls and send police, fire, or medical help across the city. Until the E911 system is restored, residents needing urgent assistance are being told to go directly to the nearest hospital, police precinct, or fire station while technicians work on repairs.
   

3. Georgia State to open new Research Tower in downtown Atlanta (wsbtv.com) — Georgia State University is opening a new nine-story Research Tower on its downtown Atlanta campus, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony set for Tuesday morning. The 155,000-square-foot building, next to the Petit Science Center, adds significant research, teaching, and collaboration space and reflects more than a decade of major investment in research on campus.
   

4. Diesel prices hit record at $6.51; Georgia at $6.34 (atlantanewsfirst.com) — Diesel prices have surged to a record, with Georgia averaging $6.34 per gallon and truckers lining up at a busy Pilot Travel Center off I-20 and Bouldercrest Road in southeast Atlanta. Local drivers describe $1,000-plus fill-ups, say some routes are being adjusted to find cheaper fuel, and warn that if prices stay high, residents could see higher costs for everyday goods.
   

5. Metro Atlanta seller says money vanished from escrow account after buyer backed out of home sale (wsbtv.com) — A Douglas County homeowner says her buyer's $2,650 earnest money disappeared from an escrow account managed by Atlanta Communities after the buyer backed out of closing. Both sides signed to give her the funds, but the buyer's bank apparently reversed the ACH transfer, leaving the brokerage demanding repayment and the seller still waiting for money she believes is contractually hers.
