Kemp declares Sept. 4 Apalachee Remembrance Day 2 years after deadly school shooting (cbsnews.com) — Winder residents are being asked to pause Friday, Sept. 4, for Apalachee Remembrance Day, honoring the four lives lost and many affected by the 2024 school shooting. Gov. Brian Kemp's new proclamation recognizes the courage of students, staff, first responders, and Barrow County community members who helped during and after the tragedy, and underscores that the victims' names will remain in Georgians' memories. 
• Search for missing woman moves out of state park (wsbtv.com) — Winder police have ended their search of Fort Yargo State Park but are still urgently trying to locate 21-year-old Erica Gibson, who officers believe left the park on her own Wednesday evening. Residents are asked to watch for her description and contact 911 or Winder police immediately with any information, as investigators continue following leads while the park returns to normal operations.
