• Victim was 6 when abuse began; man convicted on all 18 counts in child abuse case (wsbtv.com) — A Cherokee County jury in Canton has convicted 64-year-old John David Elrod on 18 counts involving the long-term sexual abuse of a young girl, following an investigation by the Canton Police Department. The abuse, which occurred at two Cherokee County homes between 2015 and 2018, was detailed during a four-day trial featuring testimony from the victim, relatives, and child abuse experts; sentencing is still pending.
