DOUGLASVILLE, GA — A 20-year-old Douglasville man is facing murder charges in connection with the death of a 19-year-old University of West Georgia student, who was found shot to death in a car Saturday, authorities say.

Deputies responded to the shooting around 1:15 p.m. in the area of Kings Highway and Central Church Road in Douglasville, where Lt. Col. Taverreus Pounds said they found Lyric Farley dead inside a vehicle located behind a business.

Farley, a Carrollton native, had a personal relationship with accused gunman David Marc Anthony Powell, Pounds said. He noted he could not specify the nature of the relationship due to the active investigation, and Powell was not a West Georgia student.
