Inspectors cited serious problems including unsafe food temperatures, improper cooling, mold-like growth on food, dirty equipment, and inadequate handwashing supplies, with multiple items discarded on-site.
   

2. Gwinnett County to receive $1.5M grant to help fight illegal drug trafficking (wgauradio.com) — Gwinnett County commissioners have accepted a $1.5 million federal grant to boost local efforts against illegal drug trafficking, including major bust operations and new technology like drones and fentanyl testing gear. Because Gwinnett is designated a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, the money can also support local prevention and treatment programs that could affect services and safety in neighborhoods across the county.
   

3. Judges Needed: Candidates Sought for Douglas and Gwinnett State Court Vacancies (law.com subscription) — Gwinnett County's state court is seeking applicants to fill open judgeships, a move that could shape how local cases are handled for years to come. The Georgia Judicial Nominating Commission is recruiting qualified candidates as part of a broader statewide search, alongside similar vacancies in Douglas County and other courts around Georgia.
   

4. Teen accused of driving 145 mph during stunt driving takeover, seriously injuring another driver (wsbtv.com) — An 18-year-old is accused of hitting 145 mph during a stunt-driving takeover in Norcross before crashing into another car, seriously injuring the driver, and later being booked into Gwinnett County Jail on 15 charges. Residents who've lost loved ones or even moved away from Gwinnett describe how dangerous street racing and stunt driving have repeatedly shaken local families and neighborhoods.
   

5. Couple convicted after fake homeless nonprofit took grant money (wsbtv.com) — Gwinnett County was among several local governments defrauded of federal grant money by a nonprofit that falsely claimed to provide transportation for vulnerable residents, leading to a federal jury conviction of the couple who ran it. County officials say they vetted the application and later assisted investigators, and restitution of the lost funds is expected to be decided at sentencing in January 2027.
