• Jonesboro Raises Police Starting Pay To $60,000 (hoodline.com) — Jonesboro has just raised starting pay for new police officers to $60,000 and approved across-the-board raises for full-time sworn staff, aiming to keep experienced officers from leaving. City leaders plan to fund much of the $289,000 annual cost through interest from the Georgia One Fund and other budget tweaks, as details roll into upcoming payroll and budget documents. 
• Girls soccer playoffs: NEGa area teams dominate 1st round as 7 teams move on (accesswdun.com) — Jonesboro’s Mt. Zion High girls soccer team fell 10-0 to Johnson in the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs, ending their postseason run. Several northeast Georgia teams, including Dawson County and Jefferson, advanced comfortably to the Sweet 16 with dominant wins and will continue their playoff push next week.
