What to expect at Marietta's upcoming council meeting (ledger-enquirer.com) — Marietta residents can expect the City Council on Wednesday night to vote on major funding for Brumby Hall upgrades, a new pavilion at Elizabeth Porter Park, and support for Chalktoberfest. Council members will also appoint a Franklin Gateway park advisory committee, weigh zoning and sidewalk variances, and recognize Marietta High's marching band seniors at City Hall.
   

2. "My name is Vince, and I'm in need of a loving home!" (cobbcountycourier.com) — If you're looking to adopt in Marietta, Cobb County Animal Services has a one-year-old pit bull mix named Vince waiting for a permanent home. The shelter on Al Bishop Drive explains its updated appointment-preferred system, while still welcoming walk-ins for strays, lost pets, and reclaims so residents can visit and meet animals like Vince more easily.
   

3. 25 years after 9/11, field of flags at Kennesaw Mountain serves as reminder (wsbtv.com) — A powerful field of 2,977 American flags is now flying at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, organized by the Kiwanis Club of Marietta with help from the city of Marietta and local sponsors. The display, honoring every 9/11 victim, will remain through September 19, with a community memorial service planned there next Friday morning.
