Police 'aware' of bear in Newnan as sightings increase across metro Atlanta (11alive.com) — A bear has been spotted on Newnan’s east side, and local police and Animal Control are tracking it while following state wildlife guidance. Officials say the bear isn’t acting aggressively but urge residents to keep their distance and secure outdoor food to avoid attracting it or encouraging future conflicts. 
2. Congressman Brian Jack Honors Winner of 2026 Congressional Art Competition (thecitizen.com) — A Newnan High School student, Hope Ivey, has been named the 2026 Congressional Art Competition winner for Georgia’s 3rd District, earning a spot for her piece “Honored Heart” in the U.S. Capitol. The announcement highlights Newnan High’s strong arts reputation and gives all district high schoolers a reminder that they can enter future competitions.
3. Alan Jackson Says Denise Is 'Still The One' With New Single (antimusic.com) — Country star Alan Jackson’s new single “Still the One” is rooted in his teen years in Newnan, where he first met his future wife Denise while she cheered for Newnan High School. The song, re-recorded as a gift for her 50th birthday, coincides with his sold‑out farewell concert in Nashville, which will be livestreamed and later turned into an NBC special.
