Health inspection scores for Cobb County restaurants and other food services from September 11 to September 17 (cobbcountycourier.com) — Several Smyrna restaurants and Teasley Elementary's cafeteria just received new health inspection scores, ranging from low 80s to perfect 100s. You can quickly check how your favorite local spots like Old South Bar-B-Q, Five Guys, and Golden Corral performed and decide where you feel most comfortable dining this week.
   

2. Smyrna buzzing over 'Bee City' designation (wsbtv.com) — Smyrna has just been officially designated a "Bee City," recognizing local efforts to protect pollinators and reduce harmful pesticide use. Keep Smyrna Beautiful and the city have already opened two Pollinator Pocket Gardens at the recycling center and elsewhere, with plans for seven total, aiming to boost bees and butterflies while balancing mosquito control across Georgia.
   

3. Campus News: Southern New Hampshire University's Summer 2026 President's List (ledger-enquirer.com) — Several Smyrna students, including Tamara Brennan, Lauren McKoon, William Spence, Alicia Carter, and Relisha Jackson, earned spots on Southern New Hampshire University's Summer 2026 President's List. The announcement also highlights many neighboring Cobb County and metro Atlanta students, giving local families a snapshot of area scholars being recognized for strong academic performance this term.
   

4. Smyrna financial adviser sentenced for stealing $10 million from elderly client (ledger-enquirer.com) — A Smyrna-based financial adviser has been sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison for stealing nearly $10 million from an elderly client and spending it on luxury purchases, including a Vinings home. Investigators say he abused his access to the client's accounts over several years; restitution will be decided at a later hearing.
   

5. Mustang driver hurt after hitting pole on Church Road in Smyrna (fox5atlanta.com) — A driver suffered serious injuries Friday night after a Ford Mustang left its lane on Church Road near Groover Drive by Smyrna, hitting a fence and wooden power pole. Cobb County's Special Operations S.T.E.P. Unit is investigating and asking anyone who saw the crash or has information to call their tip line, as the driver's identity and cause remain unknown.
