• ABAC 2026 Spring Commencement Set for May 14 (bainbridgega.com) — ABAC graduates and their families in Tifton can mark Thursday, May 14 for two spring commencement ceremonies and a noon nursing pinning at Gressette Gymnasium. Morning and afternoon events will feature guest speakers, a student address, and livestream options so friends and relatives can celebrate from anywhere. 
• Seed Depth Key as Cotton Plantings Continue Across Georgia (southeastagnet.com) — Recent rains brought about 2.5 inches to Tifton, giving local cotton growers better soil moisture but also making seed depth decisions more critical. A UGA Extension agronomist advises planting about a knuckle deep—no more than three-quarters of an inch—to avoid replanting problems as more rain approaches this week.
• Plants in the South are releasing a pesticide banned in 70+ countries (wisfarmer.com) — A Syngenta-owned Adama plant in Tifton is cited for releasing paraquat, a controversial herbicide linked by many studies to higher Parkinson’s disease risks, into the air in 2020. The report explains how paraquat is handled at plants across the South, why it remains legal in the U.S. despite bans in many countries, and growing pressure on regulators to restrict or ban its use.
