For more than 25 years, the OneGeorgia Authority has distributed economic development funding across Georgia.

Here are the facts many taxpayers never see:
• The OneGeorgia Authority has awarded more than $700 million in government grants to rural counties.
• Through public-private partnerships, more than $21 billion in economic development investments have been connected to these programs.
• The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) has also distributed over $6 billion for water, sewer, and infrastructure projects.
But there is a critical detail hidden in plain sight.
Look closely at the map.
Eight Metro Counties Are “Ineligible”
Residents in several Metro Atlanta counties — including areas like DeKalb, Fulton, Cobb, Gwinnett and others — contribute to the state economy and tax base, yet the OneGeorgia map designates them as “ineligible” for these grants.
That means:
• You help fund the program through state taxes and economic activity.
• You help build the state economy.
• But your county cannot apply for the funding.
The Question Taxpayers Should Ask
How much did your community receive?
If you live in one of the 8 ineligible counties, the answer may be zero.
The Real Policy Question
Should Georgia continue a system where:
Metro taxpayers fund programs
but cannot access the same economic development resources?
Or should all Georgia communities have fair access to state economic development investments?
Know the map.
Know the policy.
Know the Devil in the Details.
