The story highlights his long life, the species' endangered status, and Zoo Boise's growing international reputation, including its work helping El Salvador launch its first spider monkey sanctuary.

Thousands wrap up Boise River float season on Labor Day as rentals and shuttles close for the year (kivitv.com) — Boise River float season has officially ended, with all rentals and shuttle services now closed after a busy Labor Day finale between Barber Park and Ann Morrison Park. More than 150,000 people floated this summer, while Boise Fire calls dropped sharply thanks to safety efforts. Officials remind residents that floating remains at-your-own-risk and life jackets are still essential outside the official season.

Bogus Basin ends summer operations for 2026, teases what's new for winter season (ktvb.com) — Bogus Basin has wrapped up its busy summer season and is now gearing up for winter, with two new Black Diamond runs planned for the 2026–27 ski season. A Boise musician closed out the final day's patio concert as hundreds of valley residents escaped the heat with mountain biking, rides, and family-friendly activities before the mountain shifts fully to snowmaking prep.

Elmore County deputies investigate Mountain Home shooting incident (idahonews.com) — A weekend shooting in nearby Mountain Home left one person injured and transported to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise with non-life-threatening wounds. Elmore County deputies say the suspect has been identified, believe the incident was isolated, and are asking anyone who left the Friesians Lane scene before officers arrived to contact dispatch with information.

5. Idaho State Bengals survive five-set thriller to win Boise State Classic finale (idahopress.com) — A Boise native helped decide a big college volleyball match played right here in town, as Idaho State edged Boise State in a five-set thriller to close the Boise State Classic at ExtraMile Arena. Timberline High graduate Ava Brickner led the Bengals with 16 kills, capping a roller-coaster tournament that saw all three teams finish 2–1. Idaho State now heads to Colorado for its next set of matches.
