$5M Mega Millions Ticket Sold At Illinois Gas Station

MINONK, IL — An Illinois Mega Millions player is $5 million richer after matching all five white-ball numbers in Tuesday night’s drawing.

The winning ticket was purchased at Road Ranger, 1311 Carolyn Drive in Minonk, according to the Illinois Lottery.

The ticket matched the numbers 34, 48, 49, 59 and 70 but not the Mega Ball. The game's randomly assigned 5X multiplier increased the standard $1 million second-tier prize to $5 million.

The identity of the winner was not immediately known.

Road Ranger will receive a $50,000 selling bonus, equal to 1 percent of the prize.

$800M Jackpot Won In Florida

While the Illinois ticket delivered a multimillion-dollar payday, the drawing's estimated $800 million jackpot was won by a ticket sold in Florida, according to the Illinois Lottery.

The jackpot had grown during a run that began in March. Illinois Lottery officials said Mega Millions ticket sales during that period generated more than $19 million for the state's Common School Fund, which supports public K-12 education.

Mega Millions tickets cost $5 and include a multiplier of 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X for non-jackpot prizes. Drawings are held Tuesday and Friday nights.

What The Winner Should Do

Illinois Lottery winners have one year from the drawing date to claim their prize.

Lottery officials encourage the holder of the winning ticket to sign the back and keep it in a secure location until beginning the claims process.

The Illinois Lottery has contributed more than $26 billion to the Common School Fund since 1985, according to the agency.
