Infrared Heated Yoga Studio Opening In Arlington Heights

Still Yoga, co-founded by Arlington Heights locals James Babiarz and Paige Prudden, opens July 18.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A new infrared heated yoga studio is opening this month in downtown Arlington Heights.

Still Yoga, located at 44 S. Vail St., will celebrate its grand opening Saturday, July 18. The studio was co-founded by Arlington Heights residents James Babiarz and Paige Prudden.

The intimate, one-room studio can accommodate up to 47 students per class and will offer infrared heated flow and sculpt classes, according to the business. Still Yoga will be open seven days a week.

"We are thrilled to bring one of Chicagoland's only infrared heated yoga flow and sculpt classes to Arlington Heights," Prudden said. "It's been a dream come true to see our vision for this studio come to life and we cannot wait to open the doors and welcome the yogi community into this intimate space."

Still Yoga's classes are designed to combine traditional yoga philosophy with modern movement, meditation and mind-body reset, according to the studio.

Prudden said the business was designed to create a welcoming community space.

"It means so much to us to open the doors to a new yoga experience in the Arlington Heights community," Prudden said. "Every detail of the yoga studio has been meticulously designed to create a safe, welcoming space to build community, strength and movement."

The studio will use infrared dry heat, which differs from traditional hot yoga or Bikram-style classes that are typically humid and can reach temperatures up to 105 degrees. Still Yoga said its infrared system uses ceramic panels to create radiant warmth designed to warm the body directly rather than only heating the surrounding air.

The studio also includes an immersive sound system.

"Still Yoga's entire philosophy is rooted in creating space for students to deepen their practice," Babiarz said. "Intermediate yogis looking to take their practice to the next level will appreciate the infrared heat, and will feel their bodies slowly increase flexibility and mobility, as well as muscle recovery and a more focused mind during and following class."

Still Yoga will initially offer two class formats: Infrared Flow and Infrared Sculpt Flow.

Infrared Flow is fully guided and rooted in classic vinyasa and breath-led sequencing, according to the studio. Infrared Sculpt Flow is designed to build endurance and alignment through controlled core holds, resistance with weights and beat-driven muscle sequences.

Babiarz and Prudden are both registered yoga teachers and have more than 10 years of combined teaching experience. They will lead classes when the studio opens, with plans to add more classes and instructors over the next year.

"Every detail in the studio has been designed with the optimal yoga experience in mind," Babiarz said. "From the immersive sound system, to the infrared heating panels, to the 'all are welcome' community, Still Yoga is not positioning itself to be the 'trendy' studio, but the yoga studio that creates space and fellowship for experienced and curious yogis."
