Champaign County awarded 18,280 degrees and certificates in 2023-24 (chambanasun.com) — Students at colleges in Champaign County, including those in and around Champaign, earned 18,280 degrees and certificates in the 2023-24 academic year, with bachelor's and master's degrees making up most awards. Computer science led all detailed fields, and overall totals dipped slightly from the previous year, reflecting shifting enrollment and program trends that affect local campuses and employers.
   

5. 9 people booked at Champaign County facility on Sept. 21 (chambanasun.com) — Nine people were recently booked into the Champaign County Correctional Center, reflecting a mix of property, domestic, traffic, and drug-related charges that touch directly on public safety in and around Champaign. These records only describe allegations at the time of booking, and none of the individuals listed have been convicted based on this information alone.
