Jurors deliberated for about two hours after hearing testimony, reviewing evidence and listening to closing arguments before finding Reyes-Rivas guilty on all four counts, according to the state’s attorney’s office.

“Cases involving the sexual abuse of children demand that we do everything within our power to hold these predators accountable,” McHenry County State’s Attorney Randi L. Freese said in a statement.

Freese said such cases can be difficult to prosecute and credited investigators, advocates and prosecutors for their work on the case.

“We are grateful to the jurors for their careful attention to the evidence and to the investigators, advocates, and prosecutors whose work ensured justice was served on behalf of this child,” Freese said.

Reyes-Rivas is scheduled to appear before Davis on Dec. 10 for sentencing.
