Coroner identifies 18-year-old killed in DeKalb shooting (shawlocal.com) — DeKalb authorities have identified 18-year-old King Howell of DeKalb as the victim of Friday's fatal shooting outside a Husky Ridge apartment building on West Hillcrest Drive. He died later that night after being taken first to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb and then transferred to a Rockford hospital. Police and the coroner's office continue investigating, and no arrest has been announced.

Doreon Dubose interception seals Illinois State's dramatic win over Northern Illinois (bnd.com) — In DeKalb, Northern Illinois football fell just short as an Illinois State interception in the final seconds sealed a 28-24 upset at Huskie Stadium.
