3. Expect 'Immediate' Start To Former Lattof YMCA Building (journal-topics.com) — A long-vacant former YMCA at 300 E. Northwest Hwy. in Des Plaines is set to become the new Cambridge Athletic & Social complex, with interior remodeling expected to start soon after city plan review. The city has bought the property, arranged a 20‑year loan to the developer, and is considering a major tax incentive, with construction projected to take 12 to 18 months.
   

4. Firefighters Rescue Resident From Park Ridge House Fire (journal-topics.com) — Firefighters from Park Ridge, assisted by Des Plaines and several nearby departments, rescued a resident from a serious house fire Sunday on the 2000 block of Milton Avenue. Crews battled heavy flames, transported the victim to the hospital, and contained the blaze in under an hour, though the cause remains under investigation and damage is estimated at $300,000.
