• 21-Year-Old Dies After Officer-Involved Shooting In Des Plaines (patch.com) — Des Plaines police say a 21-year-old local man died after an officer-involved shooting during a domestic disturbance call on Touhy Avenue, with the fire department providing medical aid before he was pronounced dead at a hospital. The Major Case Assistance Team is now conducting an outside investigation, and authorities say more information will be released as it becomes available.
   

• 'Out Of Control' Man Facing Battery Charges (journal-topics.com) — Des Plaines police responded to reports of a man threatening people on Holiday Lane and say they arrested a Mount Prospect resident after he allegedly struck a volunteer, pushed an officer, and spat at another. Officers discovered an active warrant through the Cook County Sheriff's Police, leading to multiple misdemeanor battery charges and a court appearance for a detention hearing.
   

• 10 District 207 High Schoolers Tapped Semifinalists In Scholarship Program (journal-topics.com) — Students from Maine East, Maine South, and Des Plaines-based Maine West have been named semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program after strong PSAT/NMSQT performance. These ten teens now have a chance to advance to finalist status and compete for several types of scholarships that will be awarded between April and July 2027.
