• Pickleball Court Construction Underway At McCullom Park In Downers Grove (patch.com) — Downers Grove residents can look forward to eight new pickleball courts now under construction at McCullom Park, along with added shade structures. The work, funded in part by a major OSLAD grant, temporarily closes some courts but caps a broader park makeover that includes a new playground, outdoor fitness equipment, and other upgrades.

Coffee drive-thru on Ogden Avenue that could boost village tax revenue but may worsen traffic and safety near Herrick Middle School and the township center. Residents and commissioners are split over congestion, pedestrian risks, and revitalizing a long-vacant site as the Village Council revisits the proposal Tuesday night.
   

• Downers Grove South QB James Sobkowiak could have D-1 future. But in football or baseball? 'Something special' (shawlocal.com) — A standout two-sport athlete at Downers Grove South, junior quarterback and pitcher James Sobkowiak is drawing Division I attention while leading the Mustangs into a new football season. Coaches praise his rare arm talent, leadership as the program's first junior captain, and potential in both football and baseball as the team chases a conference title and an elusive win over Downers Grove North.
