• St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin drops its trauma center designation (chicagotribune.com) — St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin has voluntarily dropped its Level II trauma center designation, meaning serious trauma patients will now be stabilized there and then transferred elsewhere. The emergency room remains open 24/7, while Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin and several nearby hospitals continue to provide Level II trauma care for the region.
