Man Goes Missing In Elmhurst After Being Dropped Off: Police

Man's car found unoccupied in a parking lot, authorities said. Officers and firefighters have been searching for him.

ELMHURST, IL – A man went missing Monday in Elmhurst after a family member dropped him off to pick up his car from a parking lot on West Avenue, local police said.

About 7:30 p.m. Monday, the family of Gabriel De Sagun, 28, informed Elmhurst police that he was missing, according to a police department news release.

Earlier that afternoon, a family member had dropped off De Sagun. The family member arrived home in Naperville, but De Sagun did not, police said.

Police said they found De Sagun's car unoccupied in a townhome parking lot in the 200 block of North West Avenue. They spoke to a resident who provided home security video indicating De Sagun was last seen walking south on the sidewalk along West Avenue between Second and Third streets, police said.

Overnight Monday and throughout Tuesday, Elmhurst police officers and firefighters searched the area on foot, using K-9s, drones and a boat, according to the news release.

De Sagun was described as Hispanic, 5 foot-10, tall and thin, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark blue baseball cap, a dark green and blue T-shirt, and dark blue jeans.

Police said he was without a phone or wallet.

Anyone having contact with De Sagun or someone matching his description is asked to call 911. Anyone with a tip about his whereabouts should contact Elmhurst police at 630-530-3050.
