CLARENDON HILLS, IL – A Clarendon Hills officer was under investigation before he resigned as part of a village settlement, records show.

Sgt. Brett Robak, who started in 2015, signed an agreement with the village in early August. Under the pact, he resigned Sept. 14 and received full pay and benefits.

The village agreed to close an investigation into Robak "without adverse findings." The village also said it would not contest Robak's unemployment benefits.

The village said Robak would be on a particular status through the end of his employment. But the word before "status" was redacted.

It is unclear why the village blacked out the word; Patch is seeking an explanation. Under Illinois law, an employee's status is public record.

In the last few years, the village disclosed the leave status of three former officials: village managers Kevin Barr and Zach Creer and Fire Chief Brian Leahy.

Robak is not currently working as an officer for any other Illinois police department, according to the state's officer database.

Robak's LinkedIn page recently stated he was "open to work" before the page was taken down.

In the agreement, the village stated it would give Robak a neutral letter of reference. He agreed not to seek employment with Clarendon Hills.

Robak couldn't be reached for comment.
