After Cash App Dispute, Joliet Woman Struggles With Officers Who Knock On Her Front Door: Cops

JOLIET, IL — After spending two weeks in the Will County Jail incarcerated under the dangerous standard of the Illinois SAFE-T-Act, 38-year-old Garfield Street resident Brittany Muhealddin has been freed, jail logs show.

Meanwhile, Joliet Patch has obtained Joliet police body camera footage of the events surrounding her arrest that happened after sunrise on August 18. For this case, we are publishing two different body camera videos to give you a better perspective of the events taking place on the morning of August 28.

The Will County State's Attorney's Office of Jim Glasgow has charged Muhealddin with two counts of domestic battery, theft and aggravated assault.

According to the petition to deny pretrial release, at 6:44 a.m., Joliet police were dispatched to the 0 to 50 block of Garfield Street for a domestic disturbance. The victim in the case, a man, told Joliet police "he stayed overnight and noticed Brittany had used Cash App to send herself $100 from his account. He did not give her permission to use his phone or to send the money," prosecutors noted.

The victim even showed Joliet police the transaction on his Cash App from Aug. 27. The officers saw scratch marks to the right side of his neck and lacerations on his right forearm, according to officials. The man also told Joliet officers that "Brittany then grabbed a knife and stated she would stab him," court files reflect.
